Week Four Thought Question

Our thought question comes from Ryan Harkin! Thanks, Ryan! I am anxious to read your replies!

This week we talked about color in writing and how it can affect the reader, so I would like to have everyone write about sometime in their life when color affected their mood. For example: When it is winter and all the trees are bare and the grass is all brown, it is kind of depressing. Then when it snows and everything is covered in a blanket of snow, it is very beautiful. Try to use metaphor and simile in your writing. Thanks!

I really enjoy spring time, when it is starting to be warm enough for just a t-shirt and you can drive with your window down. I remeber it being warm but still breezy, driving down my street seeing the green in the grass and the trees starting to fill back out with bright green. The many colors of flowers blooming along many of the houses and the fresh smell in the air. When you know that it will be warm soon and you wont be stuck indoors makes me feel happy and excited.

One of my favorite seasons is fall. I love how even though the leaves are diing, they become some of the most beautiful colors. I think it is a good comparison to the changes people go through in life. We go through all of these different changes, or "seasons", and soon parts of us start to mature. We learn from our mistakes and and shed those bad habbits in order to make way for the good ones. The colors represent the gradual change we experience. I love the smell and feel of fall because it reminds me of football games and bonfires.

My favorite season during the year is fall. I like to see things start to turn yellow and orange. It is also nice to have some things still green. It is nice to have a break from the summer heat. It is also nice to have football season back again.

I love the Season Fall. Fall has all of the pretty leaves that fall to the ground. Later on when they are all dried out and on the side of the street I love to crunch them and make the sound. The smell of burning leaves always leaves me with a fresh smell.

Fall is when i can still go outside in a t-shirt and a pair of jeans and on nice days were a long sleeve shirt and shorts. With flip flops.

My least favorite season is winter. It's always dark in the morning giving the illusion of still being night. This makes me want to sleep more. The cold air stings your face like 1,000 needles. The white snow is so bright, like your looking into a light bulb making you see spots. The weather is so cold, you cringe the thought of walking out of the house (or even getting out of bed for that matter). The only good thing about winter is CHRISTMAS!!! However, the excitement is short lived as you think about presents and all the money you have to blow on gifts people will use for about 3 months and then store in there garage. Then with all the food you eat you become a stuffed turkey.

In the beginning of spring is different from all of the other seasons. Some days it’s sunny and beautiful and other days it’s brown, cold, and muddy. I like this season because the weather is different and unexpected. I feel so refreshed and happy when I see the grass and leaves start developing. The colors make me feel like there’s a new beginning or a fresh start for the year.

My favorite season is the summer. I love waking up every morning and it being bright out. There are rarely rainy days and I always feel excited and happy when it is sunny out so there are never any dull days. Also I love the feeling of sun warming my skin like a winter coat on a child. Sun will always make me happy everyday it is out.

My favorite season is winter. I love being outside, all bundled up in your winter coat, walking around outside, and taking pictures after a huge snow storm. The air is so refreshing, but so cold, that you need a hat to cover your face. I like walking out in the field in the freshly fallen snow, when the sky is clear, and the moon is bright enough, so that you can see for miles.

Summer is my favorite season because of the bright colors. Whenever I see the bright colors it makes me feel happy. It’s like when a little kid goes into a candy shop and is told they can get whatever they want to. Growing up on the lakes it was nice waking up and hearing the sound of the lake. I think that waking up to this sound always made me in a good mood even if I was not feeling well. Whenever it is Summer I just can’t help but be happy!

Spring is my favorite, spring comes and all the trees start to bud again, grass comes out from hibernation, and you get to see the transformation begin to take its course. Friends and neighbors gather together to sit around a bonfire. Bright orange embers flicker brightly against the black of the night. One friend, River Rat, brings out his guitar, and entertains us with his stories and songs. This kind of evening is a riot.

In the winter I tend to feel more depressed because the sky is always overcast and you hardly ever see that sun. Haveing that light realy makes all the difference in my day.
